It’s time to build your dream

Do you ever feel like there are so many dreams and you don’t know how to get to them?

There’s something very exciting about fantasizing about your dreams without actually doing anything about them. It’s safer to never move past the dreaming stage because putting your thoughts into action involves risk and exposure to criticism.

The truth is

Twenty years down the road, no one else is ever going to regret that you didn’t follow your dream. But you will. Your dreams are your own, and so are your choices on what to do with them.

If you don’t want to live a life regretting things you’d always wish you’d done, consider these reasons why people don’t follow their dreams

Let’s see where you fit in:

Fear of Failure

It’s easy to rationalize and persuade ourselves into making “safe” choices.

Most people fear the unknown and don’t like to step outside their comfort zone.

Are you most people?

Let’s tap into a time in your life when you faced that wall of doubt, left it behind you,  grew through it and learned the most.

Chances are, it was when you were challenged and without realizing it you said to yourself

Hell No!

I will not let this fear of failure destroy my success!

Facing that fear of failure takes courage – and the determination to follow up on your word to yourself and follow through.

“The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.”

-Elbert Hubbard

Fear of Change

Strange as it may sound, it’s easier to endure a known life of mediocrity than to risk going after your big dream. It just feels safer, somehow.

How many times growing up were you told

*If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

 *Don’t rock the boat

*Be happy with what you have

*Starting something new and different can feel scary.

Most people believe they either don’t have what it takes or don’t deserve to be happy by following their dream,

My question for you is who do those voices belong to?

What if the word risk had nothing to do with you and what you are asking to create?

When you buy into risk you walk away from your knowing.

When you buy into that risk is real you buy into someone else’s history and belief systems based on their past, their stories.

What if there was no such thing as risk- who would you be?

Your dreams and your actions define you. Don’t let others define you with what they tell you to do and not to.

Know your Priorities

It’s easy to believe  everything else you have to do is keeping you from being successful.

Interesting how we are kept very busy within the demands of this reality.

What an amusing way to keep you distracted from your true calling, from directing your creative energies towards your dreams, your vision, what you know is possible .

All it takes is strategic focus.

How do we get there?

By choosing the dream that’s calling out to us the most, deciding what our priorities are, chunking them down and honoring our commitment to each next best step.

You can always find something else to do instead of working on your dream; this is often disguised as procrastination.

There’s something very exciting about fantasizing about dreams without actually doing anything about them.

It’s safer to never move past the dreaming stage because putting your thoughts into action involves risk and exposure to criticism.

The path your life takes is entirely up to you. But to follow your dreams, you have to prioritize what you really want out of life – and put it into action.

Your next best step

Here’s a tip

Find a quiet spot

Pull out your journal

Write down for yourself what your really big dream is all about

Use all your senses

What it means to you

What would it feel like to accomplish it?

Who would you be with your dream fulfilled?

What would that feel like?

Who would you be without your dream?

Putting off your dream until “someday” usually means that “someday” will never happen.

A dream without a timeline is just a fantasy.

Sit down with your dream

Break it down into small doable chunks

Break those chunks down into small, actionable steps.

Now ask yourself, if I took 90 days of prioritized activity,

What would be my first best step?

Go for it- reach out if you need help-let the universe know you’re all in.

Come back to your journal every evening.

Acknowledge with gratitude and appreciation for whom you be, and what you’re creating in the world.

Write down what your next best step will be tomorrow.

Go to sleep knowing that you’ve just now invited the universe in to contribute.

Remember..

People who follow their dreams are doers. Doers have more power to create, influence, and change their environment… and eventually the world.

The only “yes” you need to follow your dreams is yours.
