Honesty is actually a belief system. I know ‘cause your point of view about honesty and my point of view about honesty are really based on how we were raised. I can remember my parents saying, “Never lie, always tell the truth.” Then, when we came across the border from the United States to Canada and the guy at the border said, “Do you have anything that you bought in the US?” My parents said “no” but I knew they had just bought stuff and put it in the back, in our suitcase. But we were told, “Don’t say a word.” Supposedly we were brought up to be honest.! Honestly has nothing to do with it
Do you see how that works? When you tell somebody, “I can trust you because you’re honest,” you’re not actually stepping into your knowing. So, what I’m asking you to do for this Congruent Living Quickie for this week is to challenge yourself.
When you hear somebody say something, step into your knowing. What do you know to be true for you? Honesty has nothing to do with it. It’s something that people use to benefit themselves to control others. It’s an adjective, it’s a verb, it’s a noun. Honest, I’m telling you the truth! So, I know it makes me laugh just to say it.
Step into and trust your knowing
Let’s just turn this upside down, inside out, and over – everything is the opposite of what it appears to be. Let’s totally shift this. What if Friday was National Know What You Know Week, National Know What You Know Day or National Know What You Know Month? Trust your knowing.
How do you trust your knowing? It’s bone deep, it’s inside, it’s something that aligns with you, that you don’t have to try to figure out. It’s just knowing.
So, for instance, you can trust when someone lies to you because you know, “Oh gee, that’s kind of what they said last time and the time before and the time before that.” It’s not about being honest. It’s about knowing what you know. Step into your knowing.
It’s not about putting anybody into a box or anything into a box. What do you know to be true for you, that actually aligns with who you came here to be and what you came here to be and do?
I adore you. Live boldly, love greatly, be that fearless leader that you came here to be because the world needs more of you to step into what you know to be true. Share your special sauce with the world. That’s what the world needs now.
If you’re thinking, “Susan, I need to reach out to you. I know there’s more to this than this.” I work with people who are stuck and blocked in where they want to go and how they want to create with their lives. It’s time to change it. Book a free call with me. Let’s see what we can create together.
